Sam Griffin-Ortiz doesn’t appear to have released much this year. A quick scan of social media finds a collaboration with KIHS which surfaced on soundcloud a few months back. It’s clocked up an impressive amount of plays for something that you can hardly see reviewed elsewhere on the net. This is the beauty of Sam GO. The album, Gringo, is an under the radar work of exemplary quality. The recluse has now gone back into hiding to channel to call upon the spirits of Prince, Bowie and George Michael. Simply because I want to reiterate how much of a potential talent this 19 or 20 year old is, he’s got the number one slot on Sonic Breakfast’s 2016 top ten. Fingers crossed for another staggering release in 2017.
Thanks to all Sonic Breakfast readers for your support, patience and tips in 2016. I’m looking forward to hearing lots more great music in 2017 and to write plenty of words in response.. Yours, Sean
