(7) The Dowling Poole – Rebecca Receiving
I’ve not seen Mark in 2016. This is something I need to put right in 2017. But, I am incredibly grateful that he sent this recommendation my way. A couple of months after I featured this wonderful video, I heard Tom Robinson playing it on 6 music when I was at Sarah’s house. And I bopped along, proud that I could sing every word.
The Dowling Poole are another act that have had quite a year. A series of live shows (I managed to miss them all) culminating in a support slot at The Wildhearts Christmas gig. Since launching their album, One Hyde Park, to a collection of glowing reviews (including one in The Sun), they’ve released three EPs in quick succession. I’m delighted The Dowling Poole are in Sonic Breakfast’s Top Ten of 2016.
